The UW Department of Psychiatry and the HealthEmotions Research Institute are looking for girls, ages 9 to 11, to participate in a paid research study. Girls who are currently receiving treatment for anxiety or other emotional issues, or who have been treated for anxiety in the past are not eligible to participate. Girls who have braces are also not eligible to participate.

Girls who qualify for the full study may receive up to $950 over multiple study sessions that include MRI brain scans, clinical assessments, behavioral tasks, and questionnaires about mood and health. The UW Department of Psychiatry and the HealthEmotions Research Institute are conducting a study about how brain development in girls relates to feelings of worry, shyness or nervousness. We are recruiting girls, ages 9 to 11, who experience a range of these emotions and behaviors. If you think your child may fit these criteria and they have not received treatment for anxiety or other emotional issues, please complete our online screening by going to the website listed below. Please note that girls with braces or a permanent retainer are not eligible to participate. The screening has sections for both you and your daughter to complete, and will need to be completed in the same session. Compensation for the screening is a $10 gift card to Amazon, Target, or Walmart, which will be sent to you by mail.
Please note if you have previously completed this research study screening your child is NOT eligible for additional compensation and will not receive a gift card by mail.
